Vauxhall Crossland X is the new name for GM Europe’s second compact crossover, due for launch in early 2017 when it’ll replace the Meriva.
It follows the naming convention established by the Mokka X – the vogueish X appropriately signifying its crossover status.

New 2017 Vauxhall Crossland X: what to expect
As this single teaser aerial photograph suggests, this new soft-roader will have a slightly bigger footprint than the Mokka X, placing it slap-bang in Qashqai territory.
Vauxhall will pitch it squarely at family buyers and it’s very much a family-crossover-cum-MPV type vehicle, rather than a fully fledged SUV. Our latest spyshots show it on test in Europe (below).
It’s based on the shared underpinnings of the PSA Peugeot Citroen mid-sized crossovers and will be built at the Opel factory in Zaragoza, Spain.

Vauxhall and Opel are pushing ahead with a flurry of new crossovers. The Crossland X will join another larger model in the next 24 months, followed by a range-topping SUV in 2020 to replace the Antara.
‘Our customers’ expectations are changing, so the timing is perfect for an additional model in the Vauxhall range, which caters for a new breed of buyer,’ said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall chairman and managing director.
‘The Crossland X will sit next to the Mokka X in our range, but their identities will be well-defined, and we anticipate that each will have its own following. More will be revealed at the start of next year, but we’re excited about the way Vauxhall’s crossover and SUV family is shaping up.’
