► Prices start at £16,600
► In showrooms July 2016
► Range-topping GT costs £25.5k
Renault has confirmed UK prices, specs and the on-sale date for its new Megane, which was originally revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in autumn 2015.
The all-new family hatch will reach UK showrooms in July, and orders can be placed now. Prices start from £16,600, around £1025 cheaper than the most basic VW Golf – and a few hundred pounds more than the entry-level Ford Focus.
Talk me through the 2016 Renault Megane range
There are six trim levels: Expression+ (£16,600), Dynamique Nav (from £18,100), Dynamique S Nav (from £19,100), Signature Nav (from £20,600), GT-Line Nav (from £19,600) and GT Nav (£25,500). As you’ve probably guessed, all the ones with ‘Nav’ in the title feature sat-nav.
GT-Line is the sporty looking one, with bucket-style seats, a bodykit with wider air intakes and scoops, and a choice of dark 17in or 18in alloys. Then there’s the actual GT model, with chassis development by Renaultsport (the division in charge of engineering Renault’s hot hatches and new Alpine sports car), four-wheel steering and a dual-clutch paddleshift gearbox.
The Megane Sport Tourer estate model will follow later in 2016.

What kit do you get as standard?
Every Megane comes with DAB radio, Bluetooth and hill-start assist (all models get a ’leccy button for the handbrake instead of a proper lever). Renault’s R-Link 2 touchscreen is fitted to all trims apart from the base Expression+.
There are also various active safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
Engine range?
Two turbocharged petrols badged TCe, and two turbodiesels – badged dCi.
Petrols:
- 1.2 TCe 128bhp, manual and EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) auto gearboxes, 122g/km (auto), 120g/km (manual)
- 1.6 TCe 202bhp (GT model only), EDC gearbox
Diesels:
- 1.5 dCi 109bhp, manual or EDC, 96g/km CO2 (manual), 98g/km (auto)
- 1.6 dCi 128bhp, manual only
Hybrid Assist diesel-electric variants will arrive in 2017, and so will a beefy twin-turbo dCi 165 diesel engine for the GT Nav trim.
All models are built at the Spanish Palencia factory alongside the Renault Kadjar.
